As social programme for the free Wednesday afternoon we will organize 3 alternative excursions. All excursions will start from the conference site.

Excursion to the Tokaj wine region:

Tokaj wine region is the most famous winen producing area in Hungary. Although the fame of the area comes from the white “liquoreux” wines (very sweet wines), there is a considerable production of nice dry white wines. During the excursion we shall visit the largest wine producing company and largest cellar in the region, the Tokaj Kereskedőház Rt. Further we will have wine tasting and dinner consisting of local foods in a family winery.  We expect to be back in Debrecen around midnight.

Excursion to the Eger wine region:

We will travel by bus to Eger, visit the fort of Eger, which is famous for the heroic fight of 2000 Hungarian soldiers defending the fort against a Turkish army of 150000 fighters in 1552. After a guided visit in the fort we will have a short walk in the town, and finish the day in a winery with a combined dinner and wine tasting. We expect to be back in Debrecen around midnight.

Excursion to Hortobágy:

Hortobágy is a village close to Debrecen, and the name of the famous “Hungarian Puszta”, the large completely plane landscape of Hungary. We will visit the National Park of Hortobágy, including the Hortobágy Wild Animal Park. At the end of our excursion we will have dinner in a typical Hungarian “csárda”, the resting place of travellers of the old times in Hungary.
